Collaborative Divorce

A collaborative approach is best when both parties require individual representation by an attorney but want to work together to avoid the harmful, often combative environment of a litigated divorce.

Unfortunately, a conventional litigated divorce can become extremely adversarial, adding to the stress and emotional impact especially where children are involved.   Offering an effective alternative to the traditional process, collaborative divorce utilizes teams of dedicated professionals to create a win/win agreement between both parties.   Each team consists of two attorneys, two divorce coaches, a financial consultant and a child specialist (if children are involved). Guided by the team, clients negotiate monetary, custody, and parenting issues to achieve mutually desirable outcomes without court intervention.

The Benefits

  • Non-adversarial, non-litigated
  • No court appearance
  • Avoid unnecessary conflict
  • Receive guidance and support from a divorce coach throughout the entire process
  • Minimize trauma to children by:
    • helping parents focus on what is truly in the best interest of their children
    • facilitating a thoughtful and fair parenting plan that considers the needs of both children and parents
  • Reduced cost as compared to conventional litigated divorce
